Brief history of Bailey Trailers
Tom Bailey built his first trailer at Aunsby, Lincolnshire in 1982. Twenty seven years and 8,300 trailers later, Bailey Trailers has moved to a purpose built factory at nearby Sleaford that will double their manufacturing capacity and see them well into the coming decades.
The new factory comprises a main factory block with offices for admin, design and sales plus a stand alone building with paint shop facilities, in total 50,000 square feet of production space.
Initially Baileys were building just one trailer a week. Today, with a labour force of more than forty, they are producing between 12 and 14 units in the same time, employing the latest technology including laser cutters and CNC press breaks. This machinery will be supplemented with purpose designed overhead cranes and a new laser cutter to enable the company to produce up to 20 trailers every week.
Bailey Trailers are built to high specifications to withstand the rigours of today’s modern farming practices. The company pioneered the fitting of commercial axles and brakes on all their medium and large models in compliance with EU guidelines. |
