Chris's blog - July 2010Posted on Wednesday, July 21 2010 by Chris Jacques Bet you we’re all thinking this was the real BBQ summer, yeah me too. Looks like it’s going to rain for 40 days and 40 nights now I guess, not sure I believe in all that stuff anyway – perhaps best not to. It’s been a funny old season all round really, starting with the mega frosts, dry spring and then unbroken sunshine for weeks on end, and now this lot, can’t help but wonder what’s next but there’s one thing for sure we’ll not change it – all we can do is to ensure harvest equipment, and come to that tillage, is serviced up and ready for action and importantly for catchy seasons is of sufficient capacity to get the job done as the weather allows. Don’t be afraid to call on either depots parts, service or sales departments to help get your tackle in shape (not sure that last bit reads as it should, but it made me smile so I’ll leave it in !) or help you find that last minute bargain machine to improve your capacity or reliability – it’s not too late and maybe the silver lining in the cloud is that we’ve got an opportunity to do deal with some of these things we’ve perhaps been putting off or been too busy to do.
Talking of catchy seasons we’ve been getting ready our demonstrator John Deere T550 i-package machine complete with 6.1m (20ft for those of you that prefer) 620R header and Zurn header trailer.
The T-Series is a concept designed maximise straw quality and output, with our 5 walker T550 having a whopping 2.8m2 of powered separation area and the 6 walker T’s an even more impressive 3.6m2 they have the largest active separation area of any walker machine on the market. Straw passes through these machines gently without sharp changes in direction, material passes from the threshing cylinder to a unique overshot beater which carries it gently over and into the T-series’ additional tine separator were any remaining grain is teased from the straw mat whilst maintaining straw quality, straw then passes out to the walkers with the help of the rear beater, and the rest is history.
Anyway back to the catchy weather bit – last season was another BBQ weather job which really hampered us as much as it did you in that we were unable to get the machine to enough of you that had asked for demonstrations. This year, by the kind permission of a couple of large scale arable producers (one of which must remain secret as they fear for their record breaking crops !) we’re planning to site the machine in a couple of decent locations where interested parties can come along and try out the machine for themselves, hopefully in a variety of crops as the season progresses if all goes to plan. Out of courtesy to the growers concerned, who’s help is greatly appreciated, these demonstrations will be by arrangement only so please get in touch if you wish to try out the T550i and we’ll get you in the seat.
Something else we’re working on this month is a web page dedicated to AMS/Guidance equipment where you’ll be able to see a selection of displays, receivers, harness’s etc that we hold along with prices and relevant contact details. This stuff is getting really modular and bolt on now with most things upgradeable or additional features added via simple activations that we can supply via fax, e-mail, phone, visit or however you wish, you can even purchase over the phone and pay by card should you wish, having the confidence that we’re always on hand to offer support and guidance if required. Just keep an eye out for a tab marked AMS, we’re not sure where or when yet but it is on way and anything mentioned above, and more, is already available just call with your requirements.
Enough waffle for this month, it’s hounding it down outside – time to light the Barby !
